From Nobel Laureates George Beadle and Barbara McClintock to our most recent graduates, Cornell graduate students in plant science disciplines have impacts around the world.  Graduate education at Cornell is particularly dynamic because faculty mentors for a student’s chosen graduate field may come from multiple academic units, and students choose their own Special Committee of faculty mentors, which then guides academic development without fixed requirements by the graduate fields. Coordination of the five plant-related graduate fields within the School of Integrative Plant Science enhances connections between disciplines and empowers students with broader problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
